What's IBM CSC

The IBM Corporate Service Corps program was launched in 2008 to help provide IBMers with high quality leadership development while delivering high quality problem solving for communities and organizations in emerging markets. Teams typically consist of groups of 10-15 IBMers from countries around the world, who come from different business backgrounds with different skills. The teams are sent to emerging markets for four week community-based assignments. Team members are engaged for a total of six months - three months preparing for the trip, one month on location, and two months after the trip back at IBM sharing their experiences. Approximately 500 IBMers are given the opportunity to participate in the program each year, and since the program's inception more than 2400 participants comprising 200+ teams have been sent to 30+ countries around the world.

2nd of February… Welcome to Yogjakarta!

#ibmcsc Indonesia

With a bit of delay in our flight due to the rainfalls, we have arrived to our final destination.

Yogjakarta is very different from Jakarta. It is more relaxed and it hosts the largest university of Indonesia, so it is full of students from all over the archipelago and in a lesser percentage from other countries.

One peculiarity of Yogjakarta is that it still conserves its Sultan, who must be consulted by the Government and whoever else wants to do anything in the city.

We are based in the Jambuluwuk hotel. I am at the 8th floor so the views are really great.

At the hall of the hotel, two live shows of traditional Indonesian music and Batik elaboration wishes guests good morning every day.

As we are surrounded by mosques, Muslim call to pray is well heard from our rooms, specially the one between 4 and 4,30 am!
