We went to
the city for a bit of sightseeing. Despite the heat and the high humidity, (around
27 degrees with 75% of humidity) we went for a very beneficial walk and visited
the Sultan’s palace. Yogjakarta is the only city in Indonesia that conserves a
Sultan.

We took the bus at 14 hours for our first weekend around Yogja. The final station was the Prambanan temple and the Ramayana ballet at 19 hours, but before we enjoyed a relaxing swim in a resort which swimming pool had one the most impressive views I have seen.

Then, a snack and a quick play with a game our Hungarian colleague brought with cards, monsters, energy cubes…
At 19h we headed to the Prambanan temple, a Hindu temple for praying with more than 200 temples built to honour the three divinities around 9th century and is an outstanding example of Siva art in Indonesia.

Rahmayana ballet |
After admiring
its imposing shape in the middle of the night, we attended a marvelous
performance of Javanese dance by the Rahmayana ballet. You have the synopsis of
the story as well of the video, sounds and pictures in the “interesting links”
section. This has been the activity I’ve liked more until now.
It looks absolutely beautiful. Have a great time there!
